Jigsaw Scribe Base - How to Make and Use One

Want an easy and consistent way to make back-beveled scribe cuts? Learn how to make and use this custom scribe base for your jigsaw. It quickly and easily attaches to your jigsaw without tools and gives consistent back-bevel cuts.

Cutting to a scribe line with a back-bevel makes the fitting process easier and quicker since now you are just working with a point rather than the whole edge. It also makes for a tighter fit to the surface you are scribing to since it makes tight contact on the face side which is where it matters. This custom jigsaw base allows you to make cuts from either the top or underside of the material and also helps improve your dust collection. The increase in footprint also helps make a more stable cut, especially close to an edge. Some of the things I would typically use this for is cutting cabinet gables, cabinet panels, cabinet fillers, countertop, baseboard, door casing, bulkheads and any other part or piece that requires scribing. I made my base to fit the Bosch JS572 but it could be adapted to fit just about any jigsaw. Watch and learn how it works and the advantages of using this custom scribe base.
